• Universal Acceptance (UA) is the principle that all domain names are accepted equally. Every legitimate domain name and email addresses can be used by any Internet-enabled application, device, and system.

• Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) หรือ ชื่อโดเมนภาษาท้องถิ่น คือ ชื่อโดเมนที่สามารถประกอบด้วยอักษร (character) อื่น ๆ ที่นอกเหนือไปจากตัวอักษรภาษาอังกฤษ 37 ตัวซึ่งได้แก่ ตัวอักษรภาษาอังกฤษ (อักษรละติน) ในรหัส ASCII A-Z, ตัวเลขอารบิก 0-9 และเครื่องหมายยัติภังค์ (-) แต่เดิมการจดทะเบียนชื่อโดเมนเนมถูกจำกัดให้ใช้ตัวอักขระ ASCII เท่านั้น เนื่องจากข้อจำกัดทางเทคนิคของระบบชื่อโดเมน ต่อมาเมื่อมีการพัฒนาระบบ IDN เราจึงสามารถใช้ตัวอักษรในภาษาอื่นๆรวมทั้งภาษาไทยอันหมายรวมถึงพยัญชนะ สระ วรรณยุกต์ และเครื่องหมายอื่น ๆ
